Baccarat

Baccarat is believed to have been invented in late 15th century Italy. The game gained popularity after being introduced to France, becoming the favorite to the aristocracy. Baccarat started to travel around the world, winning the affection of the rich and wealthy. As it reached different countries, the game derived into several variations: Chemin de Fer, European Baccarat and Punto Banco.
The game is played from up to 14 players. There are two hands dealt- to one of the players and the dealer- each comprised of two cards. The goal of the game is to bet on the winning hand, as it should be the closets to 9 without exceeding it. Cards from 2 to 9 count as their face value, face cards count as 10 and the Ace as 1. It is possible to draw a third card but there are very specific rules for how this should happen. Each player has the option from choosing one of three bets- to bet on the player’s or the dealer’s hand, or to bet on a tie. The winning hand has to have the highest count without going above 9.
