Online Gambling Licensing Application for Land-Based Casinos Starts in Pennsylvania

The state of Pennsylvania is working hard towards establishing its legal online gambling field and supplying it with the suitable regulations and attractive offerings for the players. In its effort to provide them with well-known and preferred brands, this Monday brought the official start of the application process for Interactive Gaming Certificates.

One of the highly-discussed topics over the last several months has been the official launch of online gambling in the Keystone state and how this could potentially change the financial state of the region. Proposed as one of the measures which his going to benefit the community and the gambling industry, last year brought this solution to the attention of the gambling authorities in Pennsylvania. Together with the introduction of mini-casino licensing for a total of ten new satellite locations, this is expected to bring improvement to the state budget.

The last days of October 2017 saw the official legalization of online gambling in an attempt to diversify its gambling offerings. With Governor Tom Wolf’s signature on the papers, the state of Pennsylvania became the fourth state to offer legal online gambling to its residents and guests. The authority which oversees the field in the state is putting a lot of effort into the improvement of the future iGaming scene, by thinking through all possible scenarios for development and potential questions which might come up.

Details Regarding the Application Process

At the moment there are 13 all-inclusive licenses which are up for grabs and all brick-and-mortar casino developers operating in the state have the right to apply for one of them. Since this is the first phase of the application process, the companies which have the permission to participate ought to be licensed particularly by the state of Pennsylvania. It should be taken into account that there are 12 currently operating gambling venues within the borders of the Keystone state, and there is a reason for that.

Back in November 2017, it was officially announced that 2018 is going to witness the official start of the construction of a new casino resort which will go by the name of Live! Casino and Hotel Philadelphia. The estimates time of launch of the new location is some time in 2020 when it is going to welcome its first customers and guests. The last available online gaming casino license available for brick-and-mortar casinos could then be taken by the future gambling venue. In general, there is a total of 39 online gambling licenses which cover the entire range of online gaming.

Each applicant will be given as many as 90 days to petition for one of the gaming licenses for operation of an online casino. Meanwhile, they will have the chance to generate some $10 million in order to apply. Each of the taxes which are established in the online field will match the amount which the casino developers are obliged to pay at the moment. Then 30 more days will be provided for the acquisition of a more specific license in one of the categories available. The first round of applications is scheduled to continue until 14th August.
