Las Vegas Hotel-Casino Taken to Court by O.J. Simpson for Ruining His Reputation with “False Claims”

A Las Vegas hotel-casino that suspended O.J. Simpson in November 2017 is being taken to court by the former football running back, who claims that some unnamed employees of the complex damaged his reputation by telling a celebrity media site he had disrupted the entity’s work and had been drunk and unruly.

The lawsuit against Nevada Property 1 LLC, which owns the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, was filed by O.J. Simpson a few days ago. According to the complaint filed by the plaintiff, Simpson spent several hours with two friends of his at a lounge and a steakhouse in November 2017. At the time when the group left, he received a notice from a security guard. Under the notice, O.J. Simpson was banned from returning to the property situated on the Las Vegas Strip. No explanation and a reason were given for the prohibition, the former convicted felon says.

In the lawsuit, the plaintiff also denied allegations that he was hostile and aggressive, as well as claims that he damaged property and broke glass while spending time there.

Rachel Henry, a spokeswoman for the corporate owners of Nevada Property 1 LLC, refused to make any comments on the matter. No comments were also made by the spokeswoman of the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Kim Yoko Smith, who said that information disclosure regarding a parolee’s supervision is prohibited by state law.

O.J. Simpson’s Attorney Says His Client Faced Harsh Criticism on Social Media Following the Incident

As claimed by the attorney of O.J. Simpson, Malcolm LaVergne, the damage of his client was damaged by the hotel-casino employees’ accounts cited in a TMZ report. According to the reports, Simpson was drunk and became disruptive while at the Clique bar at the resort.

At the time he visited the resort’s steakhouse and lounge, O.J. Simpson had already been released on parole. After the incident, he faced harsh criticism on social media, with the plaintiff’s attorney clarifying that his client did not own a Twitter account in 2017. O.J. Simpson created his account on Twitter last June, with the majority of his posts being football-related.

In the complaint, filed with the court, Simpson claims that a parole officer arrived at his home in Las Vegas after the media reports of the incident at the hotel-casino resort and ordered some drug and alcohol tests. According to parole officials, his probation had not been violated. Moreover, they eventually found that the Cosmopolitan employees’ claims against Simpson were false.

After being freed from prison on parole, O.J. Simpson has been living in a gated golf course community in Las Vegas. Back in October 2008, he was arrested and convicted of leading a group of men, some of whom with weapons, in an attempt to retrieve some personal items from two collectibles dealers and an intermediary at a casino hotel resort based in Las Vegas. He received an imprisonment sentence of 33 years, with a minimum of 9 years without parole. In 2017, he was granted parole and got eligible for release from prison in October the same year.
