Super Fun 21

Just as the name implies, the game of Super Fun 21 is a variation of the standard game of Blackjack that is a whole lot of fun to play. The rules are very different than the traditional game of Blackjack and unfortunately, many casino visitors will sit down at a Super 21 table and mistakenly think that they are going to play a standard game of single hand Blackjack.

Super 21 is played with a single deck of cards, although it is not uncommon for a casino to use two decks. In this game, the dealer hits on a soft 17. Players are allowed to double down on any number of cards and they may also split pairs up to four times - even when they have Aces. Players are also allowed to take a late surrender on any number of cards, even when they take a hit, split or after doubling down.

 

If a player has 20 or less in his hand of six or more cards, he automatically wins except if he has doubled down. If a player's hand totals 21 with five or more cards, it pays 2 to 1 - except after he doubles. When a player has a natural blackjack in this game, he always wins, regardless if the dealer has one as well.

The biggest difference in the rules for this game is the fact that all natural blackjacks pay even money instead of the normal 3:2. The only exception to this rule is when a player has blackjack consisting of diamonds - then he is paid 2:1. What this means is that you will be paid even money for 15 of every 16 natural blackjacks you may have in this game.

Super Fun 21 is considered by serious Blackjack players to be a novelty game resulting in very few avid Blackjack players playing this game. Not only do the payouts decrease for a player who has a natural blackjack, but the winnings also decrease with the fact that the dealer is able to hit on a soft 17. The house advantage in Super Fun 21 can be as high as 1.16% in the single deck hand and in the two deck hand it is 1.3%. Seasoned Blackjack players are very well aware of the fact that there are other variations of the game where the house has a much lower advantage.
