Multi-Hand Blackjack

One of the most well liked variations of Blackjack, Multi-Hand Blackjack is unique in that the players are allowed and encouraged to play up to five hands at one time. This game is played against a dealer, like in all Blackjack games and the goal is to get a hand that is worth more than what the dealer has for a hand, without of course going over 21.

Multi-Hand Blackjack runs much the same way as classic Blackjack with players placing their bets and then being dealt two cards. The face cards are valued at 10 and the Aces can be either 1 or 11, whichever is best for the hand without exceeding 21. The players must make the decision whether to stand, hit double or take insurance based on the two cards they get and the dealer's card that is showing. In this game, the dealer has to stand on a 17, regardless of whether it is soft or hard. Players are allowed to double down on 9,10 and doubling is not allowed on any hand which totals 8 or less. Players cannot double or re-split once an initial split is done and there is no surrender in Multi-Hand Blackjack.

The no-peek rule applies in Multi-Hand Blackjack, meaning that the dealer cannot look to see if he has Blackjack until the hand is over. Once all hands are finished, the dealer will take his second card. Any of the player's hands that bust are excluded and those hands are lost. The dealer has to keep drawing cards up to the point wherein his hand equals at least 17. If the dealer does not go bust, the player's hands and the dealer's hand are compared. If the player has the best hand, he is paid twice the amount of what was bet. If a player wins on a blackjack, he is paid 1½ times his original bet as well as gets his bet back.

Multi-Hand Blackjack is an exciting game which requires some quick thinking. Some of the best Multi-Hand players enjoy using different strategies for different hands they are playing -such as playing one hand with a bit of aggression while playing another much more cautiously. It should be noted that it is not a requirement that you play five hands and it is always best to play as many as you feel comfortable handling.
